About this surah
Al-Kafirun means The Disbelievers. In six clear ayahs it says that we worship Allah alone and do not join others in worship, ending with the words: for you your religion, and for me mine. It teaches children to be firm and confident about their beliefs while still being polite and peaceful with people who believe differently. It is short and often recited in prayer.
Arabic and meaning
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ(1)
Say, “O disbelievers.
لَآ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ(2)
I do not worship what you worship.
وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ(3)
Nor do you worship what I worship.
وَلَآ أَنَا۠ عَابِدٌۭ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ(4)
Nor do I serve what you serve.
وَلَآ أَنتُمْ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعْبُدُ(5)
Nor do you serve what I serve.
لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ(6)
You have your way, and I have my way.”
