About this surah
Al-Ikhlas is a tiny surah with a huge message. In just four ayahs it tells us who Allah is: He is One, He needs nothing, He was never born and has no children, and nothing is like Him. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said this surah is worth a third of the Quran. It is easy to memorise and perfect to recite in prayer.
Arabic and meaning
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ(1)
Say, “He is God, the One.
ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ(2)
God, the Absolute.
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ(3)
He begets not, nor was He begotten.
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ(4)
And there is nothing comparable to Him.”
