About this surah
An-Nas means Mankind. It is the last surah in the Quran and one of the two surahs of protection. We ask Allah, the Lord and King of all people, to keep us safe from the whispers that try to make us do wrong. Many families recite An-Nas with Al-Falaq and Al-Ikhlas before sleeping. It is short, calming, and a lovely way to end the day.
Arabic and meaning
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ(1)
Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.
مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ(2)
The King of mankind.
إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ(3)
The God of mankind.
مِن شَرِّ ٱلْوَسْوَاسِ ٱلْخَنَّاسِ(4)
From the evil of the sneaky whisperer.
ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ(5)
Who whispers into the hearts of people.
مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ(6)
From among jinn and among people.”
